AppIt Ventures
Overview
My teammates and I were approached by AppIt Ventures and tasked with creating a Content Delivery Service for female-owned small businesses, SecondAct| Women and MAVERICK & Company.
Problem Statement
Small business owners need to use several separate platforms to share content and resources. This can be confusing, time consuming, and lessens the community feel, as it is hard to keep an organized structure between them.
Solution Statement
A Content Delivery Service and centralized mobile platform, allowing business owners and creators to distribute and manage their materials. facilitates a cohesive community. Simple, fast, and customizable.

Research
Research began with our client, AppIt Ventures. They are a Denver based custom software development agency focused on mobile app development (iOS and Material), web development, and custom software development.
Then began research on our product users; their companies, goals, and beliefs. This was a constant throughout our process to affirm we were working in alignment with our users wants, needs, and goals.
Our companies in focus, were Maverick & CO and SecondAct| Women.
SecondAct| Women Comprised of Founder, Barbara Brooks and Co-founder, Guadalupe Hirt. SecondAct| is a collective that works in helping, supporting, and empowering women in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s to excel in their careers and their lives. They offer workshops, seminars, conferences, retreats, and more. Therefore having a Calendar function within their mobile app is essential.
MAVERICK & Company Founded and curated by Alecia Huck. Alecia is a Thought Leader, specializing in helping companies grow their businesses through career coaching, business management, and leadership. Her main coaching is through her Critical Factors program, where she meets with clients 1:1. To aid her clients in Goal Setting, Alecia wants a Diary feature in the mobile app.
Focused on ideating for current content as well as drawing inspiration from competitors. We then turned out attention to Feature Prioritization.
Feature Prioritization
Next step was to clarify what our primary and proprietary features would be.
While both parties wanted similar Core features, such as Courses and Blogs, they differed in their need for Proprietary features.
User flows
With features set and a Power User in mind, we formulated our User Flows.
While each flow included interacting with Courses and Community, deviation came from the proprietary features, Events for SecondAct| Women and Diary for MAVERICK & Company.
Competitive Analysis and Design Inspirations
Competitive Analysis and Design Inspirations were one in the same. Key features were drawn for our core and propriety features.
Inspirations for our features came from:
Bandsintown for their Event sharing organization,
The Bump for the Community engagement organization.
Evernote for their Diary organization.
Udemy for their Course organization.

Hi-Fidelity Prototyping
Hi-Fidelity prototypes were carefully created for SecondAct| Women and MAVERICK & Company. After presenting, our prototypes were handed off to the AppIt Ventures team for further development.
Closing Thoughts and Next Steps
At the conclusion of our time with AppIt Ventures, my teammates and I were pleased with what we had created in a short time span for two female led small businesses.
With more time, we would have liked to…
Conduct Interviews with Stakeholders and Users
Conduct more Usability Testing on our prototypes
Explore integration of 3rd party platforms, such as Eventbrite and Podcasts
